British Dodgeball announce Katharine Ford as new Chair

Katharine joins us with over 12 years experience as a Non-Executive Director in sport across regeneration, disability sport, youth sport and global sports governance, where she was the first woman to lead Ultracycling globally as the President & Chair of WUCA. She will continue in her role as an Independent Director of the Commonwealth Games Scotland Youth Trust.

Katharine is a Senior Business Manager in Ofgem’s Offshore Wind team where she works in Project Management and Policy Development having previously previously worked in Risk, Audit and Compliance. Her career also includes working in Physical Therapy, Leisure Recruitment and Fundraising Consultancy. Katharine also has a background as an elite athlete, as a 4-time world-record holding ultra-cyclist.

Her experience will enable British Dodgeball to look at the needs of our board, strengthen our board governance, support the fantastic team we already have in place, and support us as we go through the Sports Council recognition process.

Katharine commented ….

“I’m thrilled to be begin my new role as the Chair of this wonderful organisation. British Dodgeball is clearly leading the way through the incredible work of Ben and his talented team, and has a very clear vision for where it wants to go next. It’s a wonderfully fun and exciting sport and I’m excited myself to be joining the organisation at this period in its evolution. Given where British Dodgeball sits globally as a national governing body, I expect it will be an attractive proposition to dynamic board talent as we look to expand the board, and continue to build the skills the organisation needs to go from strength to strength. I’m excited to get to know the whole team and to support them in their work.”

Ben Hoyle, Managing Director of British Dodgeball said, “on behalf of the management team and staff we are delighted to welcome Katharine to her new role as Chair of British Dodgeball.

Having spoken with Katharine it is clear that she shows a great amount of enthusiasm and experience that will vastly support British Dodgeball during this next phase of our journey. Katharine has a fantastic record as a leader and for instilling good governance, risk management and compliance in previous and current board’s she has sat on. Her skills in this area were key factors in the recruitment process”.

Can I learn at my own pace?

Yes! Our courses are set up so you can start, pause and return to your learning at times which are convenient to you. There is no time limit to compete the course in. The only exception to this is the online Level 2 course, which is made up of 2 webinars and lessons to complete before/after certain points, but this is all clearly marked.

Our courses are developed by teaching and coaching professionals from around the world, led by a Physical Education specialist teacher and international dodgeball coach from the UK. The WDBF Coaching Committee endorses the courses we develop to ensure the contents are of high value to dodgeball specialists and generalist sports educators alike.

Any device with access to a browser can access this course in its entirety. No additional software (e.g., word processors) or hardware is needed, unless explicitly stated (such as recording equipment for the online Level 2 course). We recommend using Google Chrome to complete the course, although it should be compatible with all browsers.

    Our courses are aimed at:

    • Anyone wanting to learn more about dodgeball
    • Physical Education teachers
    • Generalist sports coaches
    • Dodgeball coaches
    • Dodgeball players wanting to learn more about another code of the sport

It can be completed by anyone of any age, although it is recommended each learner is aged 13+. Anyone aged under 18 should get permission from a parent or guardian before signing up to online learning on this site.
